Meet Dr. Shuping


Dr. George B. Shuping,
 an endodontist in Mooresville, has been named a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontists (ABE).  The certification is a voluntary process and requires a review of the applicant’s education and successful completion of a three part examination process.  ABE Diplomate Status is awarded to qualified candidates who have demonstrated diagnostic skill, clinical proficiency, and professional judgment on a level that ensures the highest quality of care for patients.  He is currently the only ABE certified Diplomate in the Lake Norman area.

Dr. Shuping earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991 and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the UNC Dental School in 1995.  He earned the Student Achievement Award in Endodontics that same year.  After a year of private practice in general dentistry, he entered an endodontic residency at the UNC Dental School.  He graduated in 1999 with a certificate and Master of Science (MS) in the dental specialty of Endodontics.

Dr. Shuping is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Iredell County Dental Society.  He is a past president of the Tar Heel Endodontic Association and has served as a state legislator (Second District) for the North Carolina Dental Society.

Dr. Shuping has been published in various dental journals, including the Journal of Endodontics and the International Endodontic Journal.  He has lectured and taught endodontic courses to general denstists in the United States and Iceland. He has been named a Top Dentist in the Charlotte region every year since its inception in 2007.

His hobbies are training and participating in Ironman triathlons, cycling, boating and enjoying time with his family. He is married to Wendy Morefield Shuping and has two daughters, Lillian and Scarlett. They reside in Mooresville, NC.
